DAVIS, Calif. —
A Yolo County man has been arrested and accused of killing his wife while out on bail in a domestic violence case.
Davis police said a 29-year-old woman was found dead in her home on J Street Thursday afternoon after a friend reported her missing.
Officers found the woman’s husband, Henry Stanley, nearby. He had a criminal restraining order banning him from contacting his wife, Davis police said.
Stanley had been arrested for domestic violence-related charges two days earlier and was released on bail after that arrest.
Police said Stanley was arrested on homicide charges.
A call for change
A memorial and posters with calls for change were placed outside the home where the woman was killed.
Neighbors like Paulo Andrade said they were shocked by the tragedy.
“I didn’t even know this was going on, like just across the street from me,” said Andrade.
Cecilia Ochoa was one of the residents who left flowers outside the woman’s home to honor her life.
She said although she didn’t know the woman, the news saddened her.
“It’s just a life cut short,” said Ochoa.
Ochoa said this is just another example that domestic violence victims need more protection.
“We just need to just put more awareness out there,” said Ochoa. “It can happen to anyone, no matter education, ethnicity, background.”
