Faith in Action: Pastor Neely’s Story of Healing and Justice

Published 06/12/25
We’re honored to share the story of Pastor Michael Neely, a longtime advocate and survivor who brings heart, honesty, and faith to his work within Harbor House of Central Florida.
During the Family Justice Center Alliance's strategic planning session with Harbor House of Central Florida, Pastor Neely spoke powerfully about his own experience with domestic violence. His story highlighted how personal healing can lead to community impact—especially when rooted in faith and the belief that survivors must be at the center of the work.
He recalled how his journey reshaped his approach to support and advocacy: “I learned to let survivors set the agenda on what makes them feel safe.” That mindset—honoring the voice and choices of survivors—has since become a guiding principle in his ministry and community engagement.
A respected leader and active partner in the Family Justice Center community, Pastor Neely describes his involvement as transformative. “I think the Family Justice Center is one of the greatest organizations I’ve ever had the pleasure of being part of,” he shared.
Pastor Neely’s story is more than a personal testimony—it’s a reminder that healing begins with being heard, that faith and justice can walk hand in hand, and that when we listen with compassion, we help restore trust and safety for all.
Thanks to leaders like Pastor Neely, the Family Justice Center model continues to grow not just as a service framework—but as a movement rooted in empathy, empowerment, and hope.
