SafeNest’s Sip, Savor, & S’mores Soiree
LAS VEGAS – Break out the flashlights, smush your marshmallows into graham crackers and warm up your voice for your favorite fireside camp songs. It’s time to head for the tent and help SafeNest send some deserving kids to summer camp.
SafeNest, Nevada’s largest and most comprehensive nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic and sexual violence in Clark County, will hold its Sip, Savor, & S’mores Soiree from 6 to 9 p.m., May 8, at Happy Camper, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The fundraiser will be more bonfire and cocoa than ballroom and cocktails (though cocktails will be present). Attendees can socialize and mingle as they enjoy campfire magic, light bites and fun.
Money raised will support Camp Hope, a weeklong summer camp for children ages 7 to 17 who have been affected by domestic violence. Camp Hope offers a specialized curriculum developed around traditional camp activities, allowing campers to gain independence, along with the skills and hope they need to break the generational cycle of violence.
The camp, running May 26 to May 30, will run at Howlands Landing, a cove on Catalina Island’s leeward side, just 22 miles off Southern California’s coast. Funds raised during the event make camp registration, round-trip transportation, food and lodging, and all associated fees, free for campers.
Attendees can purchase sponsorships to support prospective campers, ranging from $1,000 to $6,000, and individual tickets starting at $150. Visit www.safenest.org for more information.
