Clayton Leon Jean, 31, of Lafayette, has been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors following an alleged domestic violence incident on January 19, 2025.
Jean faces charges including strangulation, domestic battery, and intimidation, as well as two counts of possession of a controlled substance. Additional charges of strangulation with a prior conviction and domestic battery with a prior conviction have elevated some of the offenses to Level 5 felonies.
According to court documents, Jean allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Crystal Lynn Palladino, at a residence on Central Street, causing injury and threatening to kill her. Police observed blood, swelling, and signs of a struggle at the scene.
Jean, identified as a habitual offender, has a history of prior convictions, including domestic battery, possession of narcotics, and neglect of a dependent. Police also found controlled substances, Alprazolam and Clonazepam, in Jean’s possession without a prescription.
The case is being prosecuted in Tippecanoe County, and Jean remains in custody.
