Mr. Martell, age 41, was sentenced to four years in the Oregon Department of Corrections.
The initial charge of Strangulation Felony Constituting Domestic Violence came from an incident that transpired at a residence in Medford on July 24, 2022.
On that day, court records say that at roughly 10:38AM, the Medford Police Department responded to a report of a domestic violence.
When officers arrived to the scene, the victim, identified as Jessica Engberg-Morrison, reported that Mr. Martell, her boyfriend, had strangled her.
The report continues on to state, Mr. Martell became angry with her after she had asked him to do some household task and that after he became angry, she decided to leave.
However, as she grabbed the door to leave, the report says that Mr. Martell approached her, grabbed her throat with one of his hands and pushed her to the ground.
It goes on to state that he then grabbed her neck with both hands and strangled her until she lost consciousness and urinated herself.
