There is no form of domestic violence more dangerous and more likely to lead to an intimate partner homicide than strangulation. Join Free to Thrive and internationally recognized domestic violence/strangulation expert Gael Strack, Esq., CEO and Co-Founder of Alliance for HOPE International, and Michelle Shores, RN, MSN, MBA-HC, CEN, SANE-A, SANE-P, Forensic Nurse Examiner and Program Director for Palomar Health Forensic Services, to learn why strangulation is described as “the last warning shot.”
Domestic violence and human trafficking intersect and often overlap. At Free to Thrive, 86% of our clients have experienced domestic violence at the hands of their trafficker(s) and/or intimate partners. As a result, advocating for human trafficking survivors requires a deep understanding of domestic violence. In this training, you will learn the medical basis for the severity of this action, as well as strategies and tips on how to protect survivors of domestic violence, and prosecute their offenders in criminal, civil, and family court.
